![]() ![]() All the staff show their love of the Lord through their passionate work. Think of a Christmas time visit for their lighting displays and period actors sharing the gospel message on your walk around the property. Also, they have had events that are free of charge and will only cost you parking. Everything from the zoo, grounds and gardens to the Ark structure and surrounding buildings you will see that the care for every detail is not overlooked. Having visited the Ark in Williamstown and the Creation Museum in Petersburg a number of times I just would like to stress how incredibly well cared for each place is. I enjoyed my afternoon at Ark Encounter and would’ve loved to have a few more hours there. There was a restaurant that looked great, but given my limited time I chose to forego that in favor of a wrap I could buy in the entry area and eat as I walked. There were many books and pretty much anything you could want to buy the shop was huge. What would you expect to find in an ark gift shop (located through the doors right under the ark, as you can see in the very top photo) but a bunch of stuffed animals? Ha ha. A difference in styles and not really a criticism, just an observation. I always feel more like I want to just act in a way that’s professional and quality-based, and then let the chips fall where they may. In a weird way, there were some similarities to being at a Trump rally: I chose to be there, I like it overall, but gee TONE DOWN the rhetoric a little. ![]() There were frequent mentions of “here’s a group of unbelievers who came to protest us!” or “here’s what evolutionists believe and why it’s wrong.” That kind of bristled. ![]() I guess if there’s anything I’d suggest to the Ark (not that they asked,) it would be that they lighten up on the “us against them” feel a bit. Looking up from the bottom floor of the ark to the top - pretty impressive! For instance, there was a substantial display showing how Noah could have dealt with getting rid of waste while on the ark (both human and animal). It seemed no issue was too small to be explained. That’s something you don’t come across in a whole lot of places in 2021. I appreciated a Biblical worldview being presented, along with a clear plan of salvation. There are numerous educational displays on the ark, and honestly the 3 1/2 hours we had there really wasn’t enough. Don’t shoot the messenger you do you and I’ll do me □ Another nicely done scene showing Noah releasing a dove from the ark. They go into various explanations of how this could have happened, but I dunno. While there’s much I like about the Ark and its interpretation, I don’t know that I can buy it all - one of the iffy things to me being dinosaurs on the ark and just dinosaurs being around with people. There were numerous cages on the ark with animal models in them, including various dinosaurs. These were really lifelike and well-done. They were pretty nice! Do we know they looked like this? No, and they go into this on signage discussing artistic license. Inside, I enjoyed seeing all the recreated scenes depicting where Noah and his family lived while on the ark. ![]() The artistic and experiential quality of things here was really high. There was dramatic music playing, and not for the first time that day, I was distinctly reminded of being at Disney World. There were all kinds of ropes/dividers set up for lines, although on this Monday it was easy to just walk in. It’s definitely small as a “zoo,” but it’s fun to see live animals and I’m sure kids would enjoy it, especially on a nice day.īack to the ark itself for the main attraction. I saw a camel, lemurs, and a type of bird that made a really loud and distinctive sound. There were various animals displays there, which I admittedly hurried through (and still was caught in a downpour halfway through). Seeing the threatening skies, I decided to first head back to the Ararat Zoo, located just beyond the ark. One man (with help, but still) building that? WOW. There’s no doubt that when you get your first view of the ark, it’s an amazing sight. Oh well, as a few friends mentioned, maybe that would make a trip to Noah’s Ark even more realistic. In looking at weather reports as the day approached, I was dismayed to see rain forecasted almost all day. But I thought it would be a great opportunity to experience the ark, so I signed up. She decided not to go when she thought about the amount of walking required. Turns out it’s around 4 hours, and when you add in traffic slowdowns around Cincinnati it’s really longer. This kind of surprised me too, as I’d assume it would be a longer drive away. I thought it had been around longer than that.Īnyway, friend Leona found a bus trip going there for the day. Is there anyone left who hasn’t heard about Ark Encounter, the full-size reproduction of Noah’s Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky? I have heard a lot about it, and was surprised to see that it was just built in 2016. ![]()
